16 DAYS GORILLA TRACKING & GREAT SERENGETI MIGRATION EXPERIENCE

SAFARI OVERVIEW
Thisis one of the most amazing adventure trip of a lifetime, the journey starts at Entebbe International Airport - Uganda and end in Kilimanjaro International Airport - Tanzania. This trip highlights the finest national parks in Africa including; Murchison Falls National Park - Uganda, Kibale Forest National Park - Uganda, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park - Uganda, Serengeti National Park - Tanzania, Olduvai Gorge - Tanzania and Ngorongoro Crater - Tanzania.
This is one of our classic programs where you explore the savannah grassland and forested areas in Uganda for Mountain Gorilla and tree climbing lions. Do game viewing in the vast plains of the legendary Serengeti for a chance to witness the Serengeti Great Migration River Crossing (Tanzania).

DETAILED ITINERARY
Day 1: ARRIVAL DAY AT ENTEBBE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
Meet on arrival at Entebbe International Airport and transfer to your hotel in Kampala for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: TRANSFER TO MURCHSION FALLS NATIONAL PARK
You will be picked up in the morning around 8:00am and set off in the direction to Murchison Falls National Park. You can have an optional visit to the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary in the morning. (Optional activity: US$45 per person extra.) Continue your journey to Murchison Falls National Park with en-route lunch in Masindi. Visit the top of the falls and later drive and cross over to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: FULL DAY MURCHSION FALLS NATIONAL PARK
Murchison Falls National Park is the largest national park in Uganda. It lies at the northern end of the Albertine Rift Valley where the sweeping Bunyoro escarpment tumbles into the vast, palm-dotted savanna. First gazette as a game reserve in 1926, it is Uganda's oldest conservation area, home to over 70 species of mammals and 450 species of birds. The park is bisected by the Victoria Nile, which plunges 45m over the remnant rift valley wall, creating the dramatic Murchison Falls.
Rise very early for breakfast in the morning before going for a game drive to catch up with other early risers such as lions, leopards, hyenas, bush bucks before they return to their hiding places. View herds of bufallos, Elephants, different antelope species. Return to your lodge for a late breakfast and relaxation. After lunch, enjoy a boat cruise to the bottom of the Victoria Nile falls for game viewing.

Day 4: TRANSFER FROM MURCHSION TO FORT PORTAL - KIBALE FOREST NATIONAL PARK
After breakfast, embark on a scenic journey to Fort Portal, a beautiful town overlooking the Rwenzori Mountains, referred to by some as the Mountains of the Moon. The Ruwenzori Mountain Range is located on the border between Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo, with heights of up to 5,109 metres. The mountains formed about three million years ago and the highest Rwenzoris are permanently snow-capped.

Day 5: CHIMPANZEE TRACKING AT KIBALE FOREST NATIONAL PARK
Kibale forest National Park covers an area of about 755 square kilometers and is said to have one of Uganda's most gorgeous tropical forests. The rain forest is famed for its highest diversity and concentration of primates in Africa. Home to a big number of the endangered chimpanzees, it is also a habitat for the threatened red colobus monkeys and other species of primates Olive baboons, black and white colobus monkey, L'hoest monkey and lots of bird species for you to enjoy.
After breakfast, set off for your chimpanzee tracking experience in Kibale Forest National Park in the morning. After lunch, go for a nature walk to Bigodi wetland sanctuary or visit the crater lakes.

Day 6: TRANSFER TO BWINDI IMPENETRABLE NATIONAL PARK
Early morning, set off to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, passing through Queen Elizabeth National Park where you will spot elephants, buffalos and bush bucks. Arrive at Bwindi late afternoon and relax at your lodge while preparing for tracking gorillas the next day. In the evening, you have the option to visit the Batwa, the short forest hunters whom many refer to as Pygmies. This is an optional activity and costs US$20 per person.

Day 7: GORILLA TRACKING IN BWINDI IMPENETRABLE FOREST
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park lies in southwestern Uganda on the edge of the Rift Valley. Its mist-covered hillsides are blanketed by one of Uganda's oldest and most biologically diverse rainforests. This area dates back over 25,000 years and contains almost 400 species of plants. More famously, this "impenetrable forest" protects an estimated 320 mountain gorillas - roughly half of the world's population, including several habituated groups which can be tracked.
After breakfast, leave early to park headquarters before 0800hrs. You will be briefed by a ranger guide who will assign you a gorilla family group before entering the forest for your gorilla tracking adventure. The steeply forested landscape is incredibly dense but crisscrossed by numerous animal trails allowing access to tourists. Tracking may take you between 1-5 hours depending on the movements of the gorillas in their natural habitat. You will stay with the gorillas for a maximum of one hour once you encounter them.
If still early, you may go for a community walk or nature walk to the waterfalls.

Day 8: LEAVE BWINDI FOR KAMPALA
After a relaxed breakfast, set off on your journey back to Kampala, with an en-route stop over at the equator for photography and experimentation. Reach Kampala in late afternoon for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 9: TRANSFER FROM ENTEBBE AIRPORT TO KILIMANJARO - TANZANIA
You will be picked up from the hotel by 7:00am in the morning for a Kampala city tour where you will visit the King's Palace, the Kasubi tombs. After your tour, you will be transferred to Entebbe airport to check in for your flight to Kilimanjaro, Tanzania. You will be greeted upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport before transferring to Arusha for relaxation and overnight stay.

Day 10: TRANSFER FROM ARUSHA TO CENTRAL SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK
After breakfast, leave Arusha very early in the morning with your packed lunch then begin your journey to Serengeti National Park via the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, with an optional en-route stop at Olduvai Gorge, where the homonid and other significant archaeological discoveries have been made. (Optional stop: entry fees extra, payable directly to the museum.) In the afternoon, continue your journey to the world-famous Serengeti National Park.

Day 11: SERONERA AND KOGATENDE AREA
Have early morning breakfast then depart for full day game drives at the northern Serengeti near Masai Mara and Serengeti border. Wildebeest Migration - late July to mid October:
This is the long dry season and the wildebeest migration is moving north with the thundershowers. August is time for the Wildebeest annual rut (mating) and this generally happens in Masai Mara and in the very North of the Serengeti National Park in an area called Kogatende. But, before reaching the mating grounds the Mara River needs to be crossed and this provides for some amazing wildlife viewing. Hundreds of thousands of wildebeest can congregate at crossing points: all crossing in a single continuous wave of beasts. And all this while tooth and claw are waiting around the sides to pick off the weak and the careless.

Day 12: FULL DAY AT KAGATENDE AREA
Have early morning breakfast and then depart for full day game drives in Kogatende with your expert guide. Many visitors only want to see the river crossings but the true spectacle of the migration is more than 1,245,000 wildebeests, 200,000 Burchell's zebras, 18,000 elands and 500,000 Thomson's Gazelles filling the entire stretch of landscape. The shifting columns of the herds as they traverse the valleys and the hills can only be watched in awe. There is nothing else like this on earth.

Day 13: ANOTHER FULL DAY AT KOGATENDE AREA
After early morning breakfast then depart for your full day game drive with your expert guide. Besides the amazing wildlife in Kogatende another very positive feature is that, there are very few lodges and camps here so all the viewing can happen with few others around. Enjoy evening game drives with your expert guide then drive to your camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 14: TRANSFER FROM KOGATENDE TO NGORONGORO CRATER RIM
There is no bad time to visit the Serengeti as every season has its own special highlight - even the rainy season has the daily thunder and lightning to look forward to. Changing seasons and light patterns form the most beautiful backdrop to view Africa's majestic and incredible wildlife. Explore the Serengeti savannahs and woodlands, boasting the largest mass of free-ranging animals on earth. Leave Serengeti in the afternoon and drive to the Ngorongoro Crater rim for dinner and overnight.

Day 15: NGORONGORO CRATER TO ARUSHA
After breakfast leave very early in the morning for game viewing in Ngorongoro Crater. Descend into the Ngorongoro caldera to view the wildlife on the crater floor. "The Ngorongoro Crater is often called 'Africa's Eden' and the '8th Natural Wonder of the World'. A massive extinct volcano, the sheet walls drop thousands of feet to a "Noah's Ark" of animals on the verdant floor below. Large herds of zebra, buffalo, antelope and wildebeest graze nearby while sleeping lions laze in the sun. At dawn, the endangered black rhino returns to the thick cover of the crater forests after grazing on dew-laden grass in the morning mist.
The world-famous Ngorongoro Crater is at the eastern edge of the Serengeti in northern Tanzania. Nearly three million years old, the ancient caldera of the once-volcanic Ngorongoro shelters one of the most beautiful wildlife havens on earth, ringed with towering walls and sheltering forests, grasslands, fresh springs and a large soda lake. Leave the crater late afternoon and drive back to Arusha for relaxation and overnight.

Day 16: DEPARTURE DAY
Arusha to Kilimanjaro Airport
Your Leisurely breakfast will be followed by Arusha Town tour includes a visit to the Maasai market, tanzanite Experience, cultural Heritage. Transfer to Kilimanjaro airport for your departure flight.
