Safari Overview
This 2 day trip takes you to Akagera known for its big game such as Large herds of buffalo, giraffe and zebra move across the savannah, lucky visitors might catch a glimpse of elephants emerging from the woodland to drink at the lake. This park is home to more than a dozen types of antelope, most commonly the handsome impala, but also oribi and bushbuck, as well as the ungainly topi, the rare roan and the world's largest antelope, the cape eland. Leopard and hyena might be seen on a night drive as well as other secretive creatures of the night. And hippo and crocodile are almost guaranteed on a boat trip in Akagera's largest lake, Ihema. Lining the lakes are some of the continent's densest concentrations of water birds and with 525 species list, Akagera is birders paradise.

Day 1: Akagera National Park

Meet and greet our professional driver/guide at Kigali International airport. After lunch you will have a two and a half hour ride to the east of Rwanda to Akagera National park bordering Tanzania. An evening game drive in the park may be well rewarded with view of elephants, impala, oribi, bushbuck, and other antelope species, zebra, cape eland, giraffe, buffalo, hippo and crocodiles. If you are lucky visitor you may even come across a spotted hyena, lion or leopard. Have dinner and retire for the night at Akagera lodge or Umbrella Pine.
Day 2: Canoe Ride
Following an early breakfast, a canoe ride on the Lake Ihema may reward you with the view of large pods of hippos, out-sized crocodiles and some of the continent’s densest concentrations of water birds like the papyrus Gonolek, shoebill stork and African fish eagle. Have lunch after which you will be transferred to Kigali International airport to meet and catch your flight ending your safari.
